How to get started building your Stereo or Home Theater system
Welcome to the latest news in audio and home theater from Audio Nexus. We live in interesting times, and the audio "soundscape" is taking on some unexpected convolutions. As the compact disk has been losing ground to music files played from portable players and computers, something very unexpected has been happening. The venerable phonograph record has been undergoing a strong resurgence among music lovers, and many of our customers, from those who started with LPs decades ago to those younger users who only saw their first record very recently have been buying turntables and records and extolling the superior sound quality of vinyl playback. It's very rewarding to see such a shift to superior quality.
At the same time, however, the electronic world is offering ever greater numbers of convenience formats which allow users to, for example, stream music over their home networks using computers and networked hard drives and to control their systems with portable devices such as iPhones and iPads. While most of these systems are sonically substandard, it is starting to become possible to have such convenience while maintaining sound quality. This edition of our newsletter discusses some of these possibilities and shows how audiophile companies are starting to make serious efforts in these areas. When you couple these improved systems with the proper guidance we can supply to our customers about how to obtain and store the best sounding music files, the future of audiophilia is definitely looking up. What we find exciting about this is that the resurgence of vinyl and its concomitant superior sound quality tells us that there is still a market out there for excellent sound. That being the case, we expect that the better-sounding convenience systems which are starting to appear will be well received and that there will, hopefully, be an increasing demand for better and better sounding products. After all, it's going to be really hard for a music lover to listen to one of the mediocre home network systems once he or she has become accustomed to vinyl quality. Thus, we expect the new and better network systems to prevail among music lovers.
As we move forward, we plan to continue looking for the best sound quality, even as technologies and product categories are added and evolved. So, whether we're talking with you in the store or writing these newsletters, we'll be focusing on basic quality, whether it's contained in new or traditional technologies. We'll continue to keep you informed about new offerings, technology that is filtering down from our brands' more expensive models to offer better performance at lower prices, and brands that are managing to offer you more per dollar by lowering their prices. There's a lot of all of these to report in this issue, so please read on. Contact us if you have any questions.
